Also known as lapis crucifer or lapis cruciatur, or fairy cross stone, chiastolite is a variety of andalusite that is known for its distinctive cross-shaped black inclusions of graphite. The name “chiastolite” comes from the Greek word chiastos, which means “arranged diagonally” or “crossed”
This stone is not a Staurolite, also called a fairy cross or fairy stone.
