Galena is a lead ore with the chemical name lead sulfide and is sometimes called lead glance. Its perfect cubic cleavage, metallic luster, lead-gray color, and relative softness readily distinguish galena from most other metallic minerals. Perhaps its most distinctive feature though, is its very high density (high specific gravity).

Reflecting the shadow self: Galena is said to act as a mirror, reflecting light into the darkest parts of the self.

Encouraging temperance: Galena is said to help people embrace the aspects of themselves they have feared, and to encourage temperance, tolerance, and peace.
