Mercury retrograde is a frequent astronomical phenomenon occurring 3–4 times a year, where the planet Mercury appears to move backward in the sky for roughly three weeks.

In astrology, Mercury rules communication, travel, technology, and data. Therefore, retrograde periods are traditionally associated with mishaps in these areas, such as miscommunications, broken devices, or travel delays.
