Rutilated quartz is a variety of quartz containing needle-like inclusions of rutile (a titanium dioxide mineral), which form during crystallization from mineral-rich fluids in the Earth's crust. The inclusions, varying in color from golden to red or silver, become trapped as the quartz grows, creating unique internal patterns. Most come from Brazil or Madagascar.
