Iolite is typically blue to bluish-violet in color, but can also be colorless-yellow. The relative amounts of magnesium and iron in the mineral determine the intensity of its color. Iolite is found in deposits in Myanmar, Brazil, India, Madagascar, and Sri Lanka.
