Petrified Wood is a fossil of ancient trees. It is the result of a fossilization process called permineralization where the original organic material of a tree is replaced by minerals like silica, calcite and pyrite. Water carrying dissolved minerals flows through the wood and gradually substitutes the cell walls and structure of the wood. While it's called petrified "wood," it is no longer organic wood but a mineralized, stone-like form of the original tree.

Spiritual: Said to open visionary awareness of the deep past and past lives. It is thought to be especially useful for grounding insights one gains from experiencing these memories.
