Apollo is one of the most important and complex of all the Olympian gods in Greek mythology. He is the god of many things, including music, poetry, art, oracles, archery, plague, medicine, sun, light and knowledge. He was also seen as a god of prophecy and divination. Apollo was believed to be the son of Zeus and Leto and was born on the island of Delos along with his twin sister Artemis. He is often depicted as a handsome young man with long hair and a laurel wreath on his head. His symbols include the lyre (a stringed instrument), bow & arrow (for archery), ravens (for prophecy) and dolphins (for healing).
